Overview
This workshop is designed to help practicing therapists deepen their sense of embodied presence through some theoretical, but predominantly experiential exploration. We look at issues of safety, self/co-regulation, stabilisation and attunement by working with the breath, body awareness and movement. Topics include:
– Breath cycle and eye contact
– Yield, push and grounding
– Channels of awareness
– Working within the window of tolerance
– Negotiating boundaries
– Fundamental movement patterns
– Mutual interaction and reciprocity
The focus is on resourcing therapists to face their clients with ease and confidence. So, expect less emphasis on client-therapist interaction, more on developing the therapist’s own internal somatic coherence, which is then brought to the therapeutic relationship.
