Working Online

Date: Saturday 27th January 2024

In our modern digital world, clients need and expect to access counselling in a variety of different ways.  The idea of sitting in a room with a counsellor, is for some, a strange idea.  With a wealth of communication methods now available, counsellors need to consider how they will offer their services.

This workshop will explore what is needed to work online, without losing the relational and creative potential that working in a room offers.

Overview

Most counsellors will have had the experience of working online because of the Covid pandemic.  We now live in a world that wants to access a wide range of services online has become normal, expected even.

In this workshop, we will look at the practical, ethical and therapeutic aspects of working online (which for the purpose of the workshop will include telephone work).  We will consider how we can establish a therapeutic relationship digitally and the things that we should include in contracting for online work with the client.

There will be a chance to practice working creatively online and to explore how we can take creativity into our online space, along with how to offer a blended in person and online approach to counselling.
